Adult Forum

We believe that all of us benefit from regular and challenging educational experiences. We strive to deepen our faith and strengthen our understanding of what it means to be a committed Christian in today’s world.

Adult Forum is held each Sunday morning (September through May) at 9:15 for one hour. Each forum is offered in a hybrid format where participants can join in person in the newly renovated Large Meeting Room on the lower level or on Zoom. The topics covered are a broad range of issues that deal with our faith and how it connects to our daily lives. Programs include opportunities for questions and interaction with the leader. Presenters include the pastors, members of the congregation and outside speakers and experts.

All are welcome to attend. To join remotely by Zoom, contact the office at info@midvalelutheran.org or refer to our weekly email newsletter "The Moments" for the Zoom link. You may also watch previous sessions on our YouTube channel.

A list of upcoming sessions if available in our monthly print newsletter, "The Community" and our weekly email newsletter, "The Moments." You can read and access them by selecting the NEWS tab on the top of the website.

Join us on May 10, for The Landscape Design as Ecological Art with Darrel Morrison, Landscape Architect and Educator, Honorary Faculty Associate in the Department of Planning and Landscape Architecture at the University of Wisconsin

How does good landscape design incorporate concepts of ecology and habitat? Over a long career of designing landscapes and teaching others, Darrel has increasingly found that landscapes that are ecologically sound are typically also experientially and aesthetically rich. He says, “If we do what is good for the earth and for the birds, butterflies, and bumblebees that inhabit it, it is good for us too.” In this Adult Forum, Darrel will share aspects of his landscape design philosophy, and examples of designed landscapes that are inspired and informed by nature and natural processes.

Darrel Morrison is a renowned landscape architect and educator whose ecology-based approach to design has influenced generations of students and practitioners. Over his storied career, Darrel taught at the UW-Madison, University of Georgia, Columbia University, University of Michigan, Utah State, Rutgers, University of São Paulo (Brazil), University of the Pacific, and The Clearing in Ellison Bay, WI. Darrel created influential designs for the UW-Madison Arboretum, Storm King Art Center in New Windsor, NY, the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, and the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center in Austin, TX. He lives in Madison.
